Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Marple Car Hire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, with potential extra charges for those under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided. Additional requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by phone, or directly at our Marple office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Full payment along with a security deposit is usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards through secure payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a comprehensive inspection is required to identify any existing damage. Any noted damage should be reported immediately, and a vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. It is expected that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; if returned with less fuel, refueling fees will be applied. Late returns may lead to extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. During the rental period, you will be held accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help lower your financial responsibility. It's advisable to review these options closely. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is a violation of our terms. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle must not be used for purposes other than its intended design, and you must adhere to the specified passenger and weight limits. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Marple will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the total rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraudulent actions.
Marple Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
